About the Role
As a Locum Dental Hygienist with Serco, you’ll play a crucial role in delivering high-quality dental hygiene services to ADF personnel. You’ll get hands-on experience while assisting in the delivery of dental care that impacts the health and well-being of Defence personnel.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine dental hygiene treatments such as impression taking, root planing, and implant maintenance
- Conduct dental periodontal charting, examinations, reviews, and referrals
- Promote and maintain oral health among patients
- Take dental intra-oral and extra-oral radiographs as prescribed
- Assist dental practitioners and specialists during operative procedures when required
- Implement infection control procedures within the dental surgery in accordance with national standards and Defence policies
- Take impressions for mouthguards and issue mouthguards as prescribed
- Maintain optimal hygiene and cleanliness of the dental surgery
- Manage patient clinical records, filing of reports, and booking and recall of patients
- Order and maintain clinical stores and pharmaceutical supplies
- Perform regular checks, calibration, and maintenance of clinical equipment
The Ideal Candidate:
- A degree in Oral Health Therapy or Dental Hygiene
- Current, unconditional, and unrestricted registration as a Dental Hygienist or Oral Health Therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Experience in routine dental hygiene treatments and administrative tasks
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Australian Citizenship (a must) and the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Baseline Security Clearance
