About the Role
The Medical Officer Headquarters Defence Force Recruiting (HQDFR) is a non-clinical position, which is responsible for supporting the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Defence Force Recruiting (DFR) by undertaking tasks, which have been delegated to the Chief Medical Officer by Defence or other tasks as requested. The Medical Officer HQDFR is to be capable of providing advice, decisions and recommendations based on Defence policy.
- You will assess applications of civilians wanting to join the Australian Defence Force as deployable service men and women in accordance with Defence Policy and occupational medicine principles.
- You will report to DFR personnel on the medical suitability of candidates for service within the ADF in accordance with Defence Policy and occupational medicine principles.
- You will provide assistance and professional advice (both verbal and written) to all staff involved in the assessment process.
- You will respond to complaint investigations, when required, in a timely manner.
- You will undertake tasks as required by CMO or representative.
- You will undertake case reviews with the findings submitted in the relevant written format.
- You will adhere to Defence values and Defence and professional Codes of Conduct.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour.
- Current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Medical Practitioner, General in Australia with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) OR, Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) OR Vocational Registration.
- Minimum of 2 years full-time post graduate general practitioner experience (or part-time equivalent) within the last 5 years.
- Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA.
