As a Psychologist , you’ll play a critical role in supporting the mental health and wellbeing of ADF personnel . Working as part of a multidisciplinary team , you’ll have the opportunity to provide diverse and meaningful mental health care across a wide range of cases.

Your role will involve:

  • Conducting comprehensive mental health assessments
  • Delivering evidence-based psychological interventions
  • Managing crisis presentations, risk assessments, and risk management planning
  • Overseeing case management for both internal and externally referred cases
  • Collaborating with medical and command teams to ensure holistic care

About Kapooka HC & Clinic

Kapooka Health Centre & Clinic are approximately 10 minutes outside of Wagga Wagga within the Kapooka Military area located at Blamey Barracks.  All soldiers in the Army complete Basic Training here and why it is known as the “Home of the Soldier”.  These health facilities support the Army Recruit Training Centre (ARTC).  It has a 50-bed low dependency ward which operates 24/7. Services provided include primary medical, nursing, dental, mental health, pharmaceutical and physiotherapy. Health Centre staff may be required to work across Wagga & Kapooka.  Standard hours of operation are generally 0700-1600 Monday to Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and on-call shifts).

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Australian Citizenship – required to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance
  • Unrestricted registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
  • Minimum 2 years of full-time experience in mental health within a primary or specialist setting
  • Experience delivering evidence-based focused psychological strategies under the Medicare Schedule
  • Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)
