ADF Health Services provides integrated healthcare services to Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel across Australia.  As part of this contract, Serco, in partnership with Bupa, provide defence-ready clinical and support staff across 50+ on-base locations nationally, ensuring that ADF personnel have access to quality on-site medical care. To learn more please visit  www.serco.com/ahsc

 

The Role

As a Registered Nurse (Ward), you will be entrusted with providing exceptional clinical care to patients admitted to the ward. This role entails developing and maintaining comprehensive patient care plans, collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure coordinated patient management, and conducting thorough patient assessments to facilitate outpatient and inpatient treatments.

  • Provide quality clinical care to patients admitted to the ward, ensuring adherence to established standards and protocols.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review patient care plans based on ongoing assessments and collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Liaise with physicians, other health professionals, and support staff to coordinate patient management and optimize treatment outcomes.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical, psychological, and social needs, identifying any changes or concerns and initiating appropriate interventions.
  • Coordinate outpatient and inpatient treatments, including diagnostic procedures, therapies, medications, and follow-up care, in alignment with prescribed treatment plans.
  • Monitor patients' response to treatment and interventions, evaluating effectiveness and modifying care plans as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records.

 

The Location

The Robertson Health Centre is located inside the Robertson Barracks in Holtze, 15km east of the city of Darwin. The facility has a routine dependency of approximately 2,800 defence staff, with a large reserve component. The Barracks also accommodates an additional 2,500 US marines every 6 months from May to September. The health centre provides primary medical, pharmaceutical, dental, physiotherapy, and mental health services, and operates a 22-bed 24/7 ward.

Standard operating hours are 0730-1530, Monday-Friday.

 

About You

As the ideal applicant you will have a demonstrated clinical expertise, strong critical thinking skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Commitment to delivering patient-centred care with compassion and empathy.
  • A current unconditional and unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • A minimum of 2 years’ full-time or part-time Post Graduate experience working in an acute care, primary health care, or military setting within the last 5 years.
  • Recent participation in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities in accordance with AHPRA.
  • A current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (HLTAID009.
  • Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Defence security clearance.
