The Safety and Incident Management Service (SIMS) team plays a vital role in keeping Fiona Stanley Hospital and Cockburn Mental Health facility safe by responding swiftly and professionally to safety, security, and emergency incidents.
Reporting to the SIMS Team Leader, you’ll be at the heart of our hospital community, where no two days are the same.
This involves...
Providing security & reassurance
Monitoring hospital areas and supporting staff, patients, and visitors to create a safe and welcoming environment.

Resolving conflicts with confidence
Managing challenging situations with empathy, respect, and a calm approach.
Responding to incidents
Acting quickly and professionally to manage security and emergency situations as they arise.
Assisting hospital teams during incidents
Supporting clinical staff with patient interactions, de-escalation, and maintaining a secure workplace.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for people who can stay calm under pressure, communicate confidently, and work as part of a team.
Whether you have experience in security or not, what matters most is your ability to handle situations with professionalism and care.
To succeed as a SIMS Patrol Officer, you’ll need:
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
- A professional, respectful approach in challenging situations.
- The ability to work well in a team and support others.
- A WA Security License (or willingness to obtain one).
- A Certificate II in Security Operations (we may be able to assist with this).
- A First Aid Certificate (including CPR) and a Working with Children Card.
- A WA C-Class Driver’s License.
No security experience or First Aid certification?
We may be able to assist with training and licensing.
